The platforms SIS and ASURE have been developed to study complex intermetallic surfaces.
The two ultrahigh vacuum systems are equipped with surface preparation tools (ion bombardment, resistive heating, e-beam heating, mass spectroscopy and deposition sources) and characterization tools (photoemission, variable-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy, scanning force microscopy, low-energy electron diffraction, temperature programmed desorption).
We also use extensively the cluster available at the Institute (CC-ERMIONE).
Other facilities are used for synthesis, growth and characterization of compounds and analysis of their macroscopic surface properties like friction and wetting.
