Magnetoresistive phenomena hold an irreplaceable place in modern spintronics as they are the central tool for efficient detection of the magnetization state in recording media.
With the evolving perspectives of the ultrafast spintronics, the call for the exploring the ultrafast equivalents of these effects appears. Recently, it has been demonstrated by the means of the terahertz (THz) spectroscopy that the odd-in-magnetization effects, such as giant magnetoresistance [1] or anomalous conductivity [2], are operative at THz frequencies.
In this talk, we will cover the recent and upcoming THz experiments focusing on the even-in-magnetization magnetoresistive effects in the THz regime, namely anisotropic magnetoresistance [3] and spin Hall magnetoresistance. These second-order effects can play an essential role in spintronic applications of antiferromagnets, whose spin dynamics naturally extend into the THz spectral region.
