The IJL has 4 departments dedicated to the support of research activities. They are known as support services and they bring together 32 engineers and technical staff.

Body
Administrative and financial department

This department is organised in two services: human resources and finance. Their missions are the following ones:

Human resources:

  • Preparing recruitments and employment contracts, publishing job offers, following international staff's reception formalities
  • Monitoring interns' recruitment process
  • Organizing major collective HR processes (carreer advancement, emeritus, personal annual review, guest researchers, etc.)
  • Managing working time and leave
  • Monitoring and implementing the laboratory's training plan
  • Receiving and giving essential information to newcomers
  • Coordinating the quality of life at work group

Finance:

  • Drafting the budget
  • Following up research contracts
  • Drafting and examining expenditure documents
  • Assisting researchers in building-up projects
  • Collecting revenues

Executive assistant

Technics, logistics and prevention department

This department handles the logistics organisation in the building, the maintenance and installation of interfaces between scientific instruments and the building. It also takes care of health and safety issues.

Missions:

  • Maintaining and installing interfaces between scientific instruments and the building (HVAC, water, electricity, gas)
  • Handling disposal of tertiary and laboratory waste
  • Monitoring gas and chemicals supply
  • Maintaining building's infrastructures impacting research facilities
  • Organising general logistics (reception, mail, deliveries, access, cleaning)
  • Handling health and safety issues and coordinating a group of health and safety assistants
  • Interfacing with the campus technical department

Innovation department / Technology Transfer Office (TTO)

This department is in charge of developing all kinds of partnerships with companies.

Missions:

  • Supporting researchers in setting up partnership projects with companies
  • Connecting companies with the laboratory's research groups
  • Providing services and scientific studies in response to business requests
  • Supporting technology transfer in close collaboration with SATT SAYENS, CNRS Innovation and Incubateur lorrain (spin-off incubator)
  • Building up technological trainings for companies

Communication department

This department is in charge of all external and internal communication actions.

Missions:

  • Establishing the laboratory's communication plan
  • Developing and managing the various communication media
  • Disseminating research activities
  • Organising major events of the laboratory
  • Handling press relations
