[Nomination] Badreddine Assouar is now a fellow of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc)

Badreddine Assouar, CNRS Research Director at the Institut Jean Lamour, and Director of the LCR MOLIERE, has been elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences for his work on acoustic and elastic metamaterials and metasurfaces.

The European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) is an independent international association of eminent scientists which elects the best European scientists from among its members in order to strengthen scientific cooperation and advise EU institutions in the fields of research, technological application and social development. One of the Academy's most important objectives is to promote basic research and excellence in science and technology. 

The general criteria for admission is international peer recognition.

Professor Assouar is a Director of Research with the French National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS), and the Director of the LCR MOLIERE, a joint academic-industrial lab. With a remarkable academic background spanning across, France, United states and China, Professor Assouar’s research interests lie to acoustic and elastic metamaterials and metasurfaces, phononics, photonics, surface acoustic waves, and more generally wave propagation in complex media.

Professor Assouar is a renowned scientist in the field of acoustic and elastic metamaterials, metasurfaces, and phononics. His remarkable contributions to the field is evidenced by more than 150 publications in leading international journals including, Nature Communications, Nature Review Materials, Physical Review Letters, Science Advances, Advanced Functional Materials, Physical Review Applied, Physical Review B, and Applied Physics Letters. He has presented more than 50 invited talks, keynotes and plenary talks around the world. This has led to considerable recognition of his achievements, as indicated by more than 9000 citations, and an h-index of 53.

Professor Assouar is serving as an Associate Editor with Physical Review Applied since 2019. He has chaired and organized many international conferences such as International Congress on Ultrasonics and Phononics conference. He is also a very active member in the APS and IEEE IUS communities. Professor Assouar is an expert with many international scientific and funding agencies such as the ERC and the NSF.
