CARE Grand Est (Creation of a support, research and expertise center for innovation in the fields of high-performance sport and health)

Abstract

The perspective of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris and the objective of doubling the number of medals led to the necessity of a new reflection on research, on the training and support of our athletes in their quest to greater performances, including a central position to their trainers, as performance-focused project leaders.

This project responds to the needs for a research ever closer to athletes and trainers and for the establishment of a technological, methodological and scientific support (TMS) of athletes.

Answering those issues, the Université deLorraine, through the IJL (studying the mechanical behaviour of materials and researching : developping new materials) and DEVAH (ergonomical study) along with the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Nancy and the IUT de Nancy Brabois (secondment of technological platforms) suggests the creation of the Support, Research and Expertise Center (CARE Grand Est). This center in partnership with the Grand Est Region, the Grand Est Regional Sports House, the CREPS of Nancy and the CDOS 54 will allow athletes and trainers to be accompanied in their aim for performance and prevent risks of injury. With this in mind, the CARE Grand Est will defend a systemic and multidisciplinary approach of performance, truthful indicator of ground constraints, and will have to implement research toward translational targeted activities and other TMS support.
