EBNaR (Development of Recyclable Na-ion Batteries)

Abstract

The EBNaR project is focused on sustainable development policy and the research of substitution solutions to fossil resources. In order to allow the storage of intermittent energy, alkali-ion batteries appear as a key solution. However, it becomes mandatory to develop alternative technologies to Li-ion batteries, lithium (Li) becoming a critical element. On the contrary, sodium (Na) is highly abundant in Earth’s crust and in oceans.

In the EBNaR project, we are investigating Na-ion battery technology and the development of novel electrode materials and electrolytes, starting from abundant low cost resources, in order to ensure energetic independence at the national or continental scale.
