MARIN (MAgnon Reservoir computINg)

Abstract

The experimental realization of a magnonic reservoir computer based on coupled spin waves (SWs) between magnetic Heusler alloy-based pads is the objective of MARIN. The project will investigate experimentally and theoretically the ability of SWs in micro- and nanostructured thin films to satisfy the three basic requirements of reservoir calculations, namely:
- approximation: if similar inputs give similar outputs
- separability: if different classes of inputs give different classes of outputs
- memory fading: how quickly inputs are forgotten over time.
This work will be used to demonstrate advanced signal recognition, e.g., on time series, as a first step towards a proof of concept of efficient non-boolean analog operations.
