CO2REDRES – Treatment of secondary raw materials for the reduction of CO2 emissions in the construction industry
The Interreg project CO2REDRES “Treatment of secondary raw materials for the reduction of CO2 emissions in the construction industry” gathers 18 partners from the Greater Region. It aims to demonstrate the feasibility of producing mineral additions with hydraulic and/or pozzolanic properties from the thermal treatment of secondary resources from the GR. The initial problem is the difficulty of finding substitutes for clinker in the GR. A cross-border cooperation was set up to identify:
- New ways to reduce the clinker content and CO2 production in cement and concrete
- Solutions to reduce the storage or landfill of industrial by-products or waste with technical and economic potential
- A new economic model for the transformation of industrial by-products or abandoned resources into products that can be used in an industrial production cycle.
Lastly, a "living lab" will be set up for the construction sector of the GR with the aim of creating a cross-border "identity".
